What are some games to play at home with your pet?

Is your pet bored?  Do you need some new ideas on how to play with your pet?  Playing games with your pet is great for mental stimulation, exercise, and strengthening your bond with your pet!  

Games for Dogs - These will promote activity and brain stimulation!

  • Hide and Seek – Start by having your dog stay while you hide.  Then call your dog to find you.  Give a treat reward when they find you.
  • Treasure Hunt/Scavenger Hunt – Hide smelly treats or favorite toys around the house and have your dog use their nose to find them.
  • Indoor Obstacle Course: Use pillows, blankets, and cardboard boxes to create a fun agility course and guide your dog through it.
  • Fetch – A classic that you can do with a ball outside and/or a toy indoors.
  • Tug-of-War – A great way to test your dog’s strength and engage in a fun game.
  • Puzzle Toys – These toys dispense treats or food as your pet interacts with them.  Great for your dog’s mental stimulation.
  • Chase the Prey – Use a wand toy or a stuffed mouse to mimic prey movement, engage your cat’s natural predatory instincts.
  • Under the Covers – Drape a blanket on the floor and drag a wand toy underneath it to create the illusion of hidden prey for your cat to pounce on.
  • Treat/toy Scavenger Hunt: Hide small treats or toys around the house for your cat to find, activating their hunting and problem-solving skills.
  • “Fetch” with Toys: Some cats enjoy a game of fetch.  You can toss a stuffed mouse or toy for them to chase.
