Halloween Safety for Your Pet

To keep pets safe this Halloween, provide a quiet, secure indoor space with identification, keep candy and dangerous decorations like candles and jack-o-lanterns out of reach, and ensure costumes don’t restrict movement or breathing. Also, be mindful of the increased traffic from trick-or-treaters to prevent escapes and keep pets away from the door.
Before Halloween
Update ID: Ensure your pet has a microchip, collar, and ID tag with current contact information in case they get scared and escape.
Consider a Constume: Only dress your pet in a costume if they truly love it. Make sure it doesn’t limit their vision, hearing, breathing, or ability to move.

During Halloween
Secure Your Home: Keep pets indoors and away from open doors to prevent escapes when trick-or-treaters arrive.
Create a Safe Space: Provide a calm, quiet room for your pet to stay in, away from the noise and excitement of visitors.
Keep Candy Away: Store Halloween candy and chocolate in a safe place where your pet cannot reach them, as these items can be toxic to pets.
Decorate Safely: Place lit candles and decorative jack-o’-lanterns out of reach to avoid burns.
